The Ed Kado-designed, 25-story, high-rise Bank of the West Tower in the heart of Sacramento's business district provides 433,000 square-feet of "Class A" office space with views of the Sierra, the Sacramento River, Sacramento's skyline and the Capitol Rotunda.

At 396 feet, the building is the third tallest in the state's capital. The tallest is Wells Fargo Center at 30 floors and 423 feet. Second is the 25-story US Bank Tower, which tops out at 402 feet.

The building at 500 Capitol Mall offers on-site building management, 24-hour security, a state-of-the-art fitness center with showers and locker facilities, cable-ready access, legislative audio access, an overnight express center, a planned restaurant, and an 800 stall parking garage.

"We wanted a dramatic building where quality is built into every aspect," says Angelo Tsakopoulos, managing partner of 500 Capitol Mall Tower LLC. "The quality of construction is excellent and has received nothing but praise from those involved in the project and from public onlookers, as well."

The building boasts features from Brazilian granite floors in the lobby to cherry wood accents and solid-core suite doors used throughout the interior. Marble and stone finishes were hand-picked by the developer at its fabricator in Montignoso, Italy.

The building contains a number of energy-saving features such as the dual-paned, high-performance glass that reduces heat gain and an elevator system that reduces energy usage by up to 50 percent compared to conventional elevators.

"Working on this building was a dream job for us at Rudolph and Sletten," says Dan Dolinar, senior vice president at Rudolph and Sletten.

Sacramento's second-largest law firm, McDonough Holland & Allen, PC, is the first tenant, signing a lease to occupy space on the 17th through 19th floors. Other law firms relocating to the building include Hanson Bridgett LLP, Somach Simmons & Dunn, and Stoel Rives LLP.

In addition to a bank branch on the ground floor, Bank of the West will have offices on the 11th and 12th floors.
